What Mindbody's Acquisition of Booker Actually Cost Me
For years, I built my practice on Booker. It wasn't perfect, but it was mine. My client records, my scheduling history, my business data, all in one place.
In 2018, Mindbody acquired Booker. Overnight, the pricing model changed. Every additional location required a full separate subscription. The platform I had trusted became a liability for any business trying to grow.
When I looked at returning, the model hadn't changed. Same structure. Same answer to the question of whether growth would be penalized: yes.
"Why should opening a second location mean buying another full software subscription?"
The answer I kept coming back to was: it shouldn't. So I started asking a harder question: why doesn't software built for massage therapists actually reflect the way massage therapists work?
I didn't have a good answer. So I decided to build one.

It was built by a licensed massage therapist who has spent decades treating clients, teaching students, running a practice, and living the daily realities of this profession.

"Would this actually make a therapist's day easier?"
If the answer is no, it doesn't belong in BuboSoma. That sounds simple. But it's a filter that most software built for wellness professionals has never passed through. Because most of it was built by people who have never worked in a treatment room.
